Ten Flats That (Shouldn’t) Get You Kicked Out of Cannes

Like Emily Blunt, we’re a tiny bit flummoxed at the no stiletto, no entry policy at Cannes this year.  While officials have tried to spin this year’s fest as the year of the woman, it seems that when it comes to fashion, the festival directors are a little shall we say, behind the times when it comes to footwear.  There’s been an explosion of flats, mini-pumps and all sorts of fun flat footwear in the market, with celebs from Alexa Chung to Uma Thurman embracing a flat look on the red carpet, even beneath their gowns, and historically speaking flat slippers have been a staple for evening dress since the 17th century. Also, why would you ever try to tell a woman what she can and cannot wear? Hello, France, it’s 2015 calling.

We’ve rounded up the best flats of the season to keep you fashion forward no matter what height you espouse.
